PLOT
After John Galt’s speech ends, Mr. Thompson demands the group tell him what to do next. The only idea comes from Dagny. She says they should give up and get out of the way. As people desert, the government puts out a call to John Galt saying they are willing to meet and negotiate. At 4 a.m., Dagny goes to the address listed for John Galt in TT’s personnel files. Galt is there and tells Dagny to act like his worst enemy when the cops show up. John Galt is taken to the Wayne-Falkland Hotel, where he is heavily guarded. Mr. Thompson and his crew individually try to convince Galt to take over and tell them what to do. Eventually, they stage a televised reception in honor of the inauguration of The John Galt Plan. When it’s Galt’s turn to speak he says, "Get the hell out of my way!"
SUBPLOT (loose ends)
Mr. Thompson puts a "tail" on Dagny that eventually leads them to Galt.
Eddie goes to San Francisco to open up the terminal to transcontinental traffic. Rearden Steel is destroyed.
Orren Boyle has been confined to a rest home.
The Ferris-Lawson-Meigs faction increases its influence.
Galt tells Dagny to wear a white sweater the next time he sees her.
Dagny now only feels hatred for her railroad.
All of Galt’s inventions are destroyed beyond recognition when the police force the door’s sound lock.
Francisco sends a message to Dagny where he can be reached when Galt will need his help.
Dagny admits to Eddie that she knew how he felt about her.
Mr. Mowen is the representative of business during the inauguration.
