This week we are going to address "HOW to think".
A lot of people will tell you WHAT to think.
However, where do you learn HOW to think?
Do we need to learn HOW to think?
Don't we think without effort?
Animals "think". They have a brain. However, science is finding out that animals are more like programmed computers than beings that express a "free will".
For instance, robin red-breasts attack other robin red-breasts. Why? What is the CAUSE?
Some people theorized that the robin was defending his territory from another male.
It turns out that when a pile of red feathers from a robin red-breast were put into a small pile on the ground, a robin red-breast would attack the pile! It turns out the robin is "programmed" to attack those feathers...not necessarily the bird itself.
Another example has to do with turkeys and polecats. The polecat is a natural enemy of the turkey. However, when a stuffed polecat had a tape recorder placed inside that played the sounds from a baby turkey, the mother turkey would take the stuffed polecat under her wings.
The minute the tape recorder was turned off, the turkey would attack the stuffed polecat!
These two examples are MODELS!
These MODELS explain how these specific animals "think" in these specific situations.
When we think without effort, we are thinking like animals.
EVERYONE has a MODEL for EVERYTHING...whether you are aware of it is another issue.
We see these same type of "automatic" MODELS in people when they are surprised, stressed, and let their emotions determine their actions.
I call this "man's way of thinking" or "fleshly thinking" because ALL that we share with the animals is FLESH.
Is this how God intended man to think?
HOW does God want man to think?
