Leadership Stronghold #2: Exclusivity

This month we are looking at the two universal strongholds that are hindering our ability to fix the church.

This week we are looking at the first stronghold: Leadership.

I have written a lot about Leadership both on this blog and in the Second Book. This week I am focusing on showing practical applications of the Universal Stronghold we have concerning Leadership.

Remember, a stronghold is a source of ammunition and resources for the enemy within our brains that ultimately leads to us being Unprofitable. When I speak of Universal Strongholds, I'm stating that EVERYTHING about this topic is Unprofitably filed away in our brains.

In the previous post, we saw the first practical application of this stronghold that results in Unprofitability.

Leadership Stronghold #1: Leaders should NOT be MORE excellent.

A BOSS holds their subordinates to a higher standard than they hold themselves. This is hypocrisy. Why would people think God's definition of Leadership encourages hypocrisy.

Leadership Stronghold #1 needs to be intentionally replaced with the statement: Leaders OUGHT to be MORE excellent, NOT less.

Today, we will look at Leadership Stronghold #2...

LEADERSHIP STRONGHOLD #2: EXCLUSIVITY
The main reason why Leadership Stronghold #1 is Unprofitable is that it leads to a belief in "One Way Justice". Basically, ALL of the benefit is towards the Boss, while ALL the payment is made by the "followers". A society will NEVER be able to sustain itself in the Long Term with this mentality. This is a man-made contradictory solution to how society should be structured.

The way to REALLY find out what a person believes about Leadership is to ask them their explanation of "Paradise"...or as men have named it "Utopia". How ought the ideal society to be structured?

EVERY explanation concerns two aspects:
1) The definition of "superiors" and "inferiors"
2) Explanation how these two groups ought to interact

The most common explanations of Utopia sound like this:
"Superiors" are people who are Physically (and Mentally) stronger than the rest of the society. "Inferiors" are people who lack strength, money, power, and/or intelligence. Ultimately, "inferiors" ought to serve "superiors".

The resulting stronghold that is exposed is the concept that Leadership is exclusive.

Leadership Stronghold #2: We can't all be leaders.

When a person makes this statement, they are proving they are ACTUALLY talking about BOSSES when they say they are speaking about Leaders.

The Bible defines "Paradise/Utopia" in a completely different fashion...

"Superiors" are those who are humble enough to let God direct their actions. These people are in pursuit of growth, they think for themselves, and are moral. Moral people know that Justice exists and they will have to pay for EVERYTHING they get that they didn't pay for.

"Inferiors" are people who pursue comfort, attempt not to think, and believe in "One Way Justice".

Now here is the REAL difference between the Bible and man-made versions of Utopia: The Bible states that the "superiors" ought to serve the "inferiors"!

The Bible states we OUGHT to ALL be leaders!

Nowhere is this MORE blatantly stated than in Jesus' Last Sermon at The Last Supper!

We covered this in depth in the post titled, "The Last Supper: Apostles' Teaching".

Luke 9:48
"and said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this little child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same is great."

Jesus shows that we ALL ought to be Leaders...and that the "great" (Jesus' WORDS)serve the MOST. Leaders facilitate the Purpose and Progress of others!

This next point is a subtle point, so reread this section until you get it:

It was possible for us to have Paradise/Utopia on earth...however, it is NOT going to happen.

If it was IMPOSSIBLE for us to have Utopia on earth, then God is Unjust...God rigged the system. However, God did NOT rig the system. The Bible shows us HOW to have Paradise/Utopia on earth. However, WE chose to follow a man-made solution instead of God's solution, so we won't have Utopia on earth. In fact, every year we get further away from being able to have Paradise/Utopia on earth because we have a Universal Stronghold concerning Leadership.

When all seven earthly dispensations are over, God will implement His Plan. Guess what? His Plan was ALWAYS available to us. It is OUR fault, NOT God's, that we live in a world that is ACTIVELY and INTENTIONALLY going further away from a Utopian existence. WHY? Because we have followed a Universal Stronghold concerning Leadership.

WHEN did we go wrong?

The Bible documents how God wanted to lead us all individually. God wanted to influence all of our hearts directly. However, beginning with I Samuel, the people told God they would rather have a king "lead" them.

We covered this in depth in the post titled, "Leadership: God or Kings?". This is when the man-made concept of "superiors" and "inferiors" and how they ought to interact was chosen over God's Will. In fact, whenever a person argues that God was FOR us following kings, they are putting man's doctrine in place of God's doctrine. We covered this in depth in the post titled, "Leadership: The Warning."

Remember, a Leader focuses on facilitating the Purpose and Progress of others. Today, our country is COMPLETELY run by people who facilitated their own Purpose and Progress to get into these positions! We covered this in depth in the post titled, "Leadership: The Selection Process". In the Bible, God selected the kings OR the kings were the sons of the former kings. This is the ONLY way for it to be possible to have a Just Leader. Throughout the entire Bible, whenever a person facilitates their own Purpose and Progress to become the "Leader", the result becomes Unprofitable.

God did do His part to help the kings be Profitable. We covered this in depth in a post titled, "Leadership: The Heart of a Leader". God focused on the heart of the king, but it was still up to the king what he would do with his heart.

SUMMARY
Leadership Stronghold #2: We can't all be Leaders.

When people make this statement, they are REALLY talking about BOSSES and NOT Leaders. They are focused on implementing a man-made, contradictory, and ultimately Unprofitable society.

Jesus stated we ought to ALL be leaders because Leaders are "superiors" ("the great") that serve others.

Leadership Stronghold #2 needs to be intentionally replaced with the statement: We can ALL be Leaders.

Tomorrow, we will look at Leadership Stronghold #3...

John,

One question I've had about the leader discussions is that is it even possible for a Leader to be completely into the purpose of the people they are leading as well as to the "community" as a whole.

For example, I would say that the CEO of a company's main task would be to work towards the purpose and progress of the company rather than the individuals that they are "leading".

Can a CEO really be a true leader to the people he/she is "leading"?

Would it just be a matter of defining the "Purpose" distinctly enough so as the individuals purpose as far as the CEO is concerned is that of progressing the company?

Hi Tom,

The short answer is "no...it is not possible for a Leader to be COMPLETELY into the purpose of the people they are leading as well as the community as a whole".

Leadership is facilitating the Purpose and Progress of others.

GOOD and PERFECT Leadership would depend on HOW MUCH the Leader is doing.

As for the CEO question, the CEO's REAL customer is the stockholders...hence the short-term focus.

Ultimately, it does depend on the "purpose"...

If you were the Leader of an organization, you would have three levels of purpose for each individual.

The First Purpose is the individual as a person...

The Second Purpose would be the individual as employee...

The Third Purpose would be the individual as a part of the corporation...

We are going to cover this in depth in the Third Book, but for now, realize that what you do for the person may actually result in them no longer being an employee...and no longer a part of the corporation.

So, the purposes can definitely contradict...

And that is the Long answer to your question.

Tom, great question!
