This year we have covered the first seventeen chapters of The Gospel According To Matthew.
Matthew chapters 18 and 19 are two crucial chapters of the New Testament. These chapters have the answers (HOW/WHY) church today is NOT creating the value needed to bring about God's Will on earth as it is done in Heaven.
However, people miss the solutions presented by Jesus because they lack the foundational doctrine. We will see most churches today do the OPPOSITE of Matthew chapters 18 and 19.
In order to more fully appreciate the information, we will spend the rest of this month getting foundational background.
In the previous post, we brought Resolution to the Doctrine of Sin. Here was the summary:
1. ALL sin is paid for with death
2. The Bible stated sins are different, both quantitatively and qualitatively.
Actually, there are two different types of sins. We will look at the first type today...
FIRST DIMENSIONAL SIN
I refer to the two types of sin as "First Dimensional" and "Second Dimensional". The reason why I use these words is the Second Dimensional sin is built on top of First Dimensional sin...we don't lose the idea of First Dimensional sin when we deal with Second Dimensional sin just like we don't lose the shape of a one-dimensional line when we create a two-dimensional square.
In yesterday's post, we looked at the Catholic Doctrine of "mortal" and "venial" sins. THAT doctrine saw these two types of sin as completely disconnected from each other. I don't believe the Bible considers different types of sin to be completely separate from other sins...
The way I believe the Bible presented First Dimensional Sin was as something the individual did coming from within the individual in response to stimulus that did NOT come from the individual.
Here is a picture to illustrate this concept:
Arrow "one" is the stimulus from outside the individual. It is the cause and enters into the heart.
If the stimulus is not inhibited by the individual, Arrow "two" is the migration of the stimulus to the brain along with what is planted in the heart of the individual.
Arrow "three" is the result of the stimulus and what is in the heart colliding with a stronghold in the trees of the brain...resulting in First Dimensional sin.
Remember, this post's specific application deals with First Dimensional sin. So, the result in this example is sin. This picture could just as easily be used to illustrate a person saying the right thing.
Notice, Arrow "one" is NOT sin...it is a stimulus. We've already seen Jesus spoke about this in Matthew 15:
"5 But ye say, whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, That wherewith thou mightest have been profited by me is given to God;
6 he shall not honor his father. And ye have made void the word of God because of your tradition.
7 Ye hypocrites, well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,
8 This people honoreth me with their lips; But their heart is far from me.
9 But in vain do they worship me, Teaching as their doctrines the precepts of men.
10 And he called to him the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:
11 Not that which entereth into the mouth defileth the man; but that which proceedeth out of the mouth, this defileth the man.
12 Then came the disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, when they heard this saying?
13 But he answered and said, Every plant which my heavenly Father planted not, shall be rooted up.
14 Let them alone: they are blind guides. And if the blind guide the blind, both shall fall into a pit.
15 And Peter answered and said unto him, Declare unto us the parable.
16 And he said, Are ye also even yet without understanding?
17 Perceive ye not, that whatsoever goeth into the mouth passeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
18 But the things which proceed out of the mouth come forth out of the heart; and they defile the man.
19 For out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, railings:
20 these are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not the man." Matthew 15:5-20
Jesus showed the sin was NOT what went in, but what came out as an effect of what was in the heart. In this case, Jesus showed man-made traditions planted in the heart of the individual were the source of this First Dimensional sin.
We will look at the following passage in more detail later this month. For now, notice the sin was outside of Cain looking for an opportunity to possess him:
"6 And Jehovah said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
7 If thou doest well, shall it not be lifted up? and if thou doest not well, sin coucheth at the door: and unto thee shall be its desire, but do thou rule over it." Genesis 4:6-7
God warned Cain not to form strongholds that would result in sin given the wrong stimulus from the enemy. According to our picture, God warned Cain about Arrow "one" from the enemy and how it would result in sin (Arrow "three") if Cain didn't manage Arrow "two".
Notice, this sin can be "unintentional"...meaning it can happen without us realizing we've sinned until after Arrow "three". Jesus recognized this when He was on the cross:
"33 And when they came unto the place which is called The skull, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand and the other on the left.
34 And Jesus said, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And parting his garments among them, they cast lots." Luke 23:33-34
Jesus recognized the people who crucified Him committed First Dimensional sin.
The reality is we all have committed First Dimensional sin.
"8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us." I John 1:8-10
We already saw the Pharisees were experts at pointing out First Dimensional sin in others. It was the way they justified themselves. They actively looked for the sin that existed in everyone so they felt better about themselves. This strategy had worked without fail prior to Jesus.
However, we saw Matthew chapter 12 documented the Pharisees attempted to use this method on Jesus.
The chapter began when the Pharisees accused Jesus' disciples of First Dimensional sin. Jesus defended the disciples. The Pharisees' technique did not work, so they chose to intentionally trap Jesus in First Dimensional sin. When their attempt to trap Jesus failed, they responded by choosing to destroy Jesus. When that technique didn't work, they blasphemed the Holy Spirit.
The Pharisees encountered the only human (fully man) who never committed First Dimensional sin! Rather than be contrastive with each occurrence, the Pharisees' justified themselves in their attempt to find First Dimensional sin in Jesus.
FIRST DIMENSIONAL SIN MODEL
First Dimensional sins are sins we commit against other people. These sins are handled with the Reward Model through Justice. We will ALL pay for the First Dimensional sins we commit with Reward. These sins, in and of themselves, are not dealt with according to the Salvation Model. These sins, in and of themselves, are not unto death.
We have seen these sins will be sorted out during the First of the two judgments mentioned in Revelation 20:
"11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat upon it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne; and books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of the things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead that were in it; and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works."
The First judgment is the Reward judgment done according to works.
"14 And death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death, even the lake of fire.
15 And if any was not found written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire." Revelation 20:11-15
The Second judgment is the Salvation judgment done according to Righteousness.
We saw "The Parable of The Talents" mirrored the same two judgments mentioned in Revelation 20.
During this Series, we saw in Matthew 12, Jesus said:
"36 And I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment." Matthew 12:36
EVERYONE will have to give an account for what they said...which is First Dimensional sin and will be judged during the First judgment.
God built us in a way that we feel guilt for First Dimensional sin. The ONLY way to remove this guilt is confession and repentance.
The post "The Only Way To Remove Guilt" is googled everyday. The people searching come from all over the world.
In that post, we see HOW/WHY confession and repentance is the ONLY way to remove the guilt and avoid judgment for First Dimensional sins. The key is Repentance/Repair. This goes against the flesh of the individual. In order to Repent/Repair, the individual must kill their flesh. Even First Dimensional sins result in death...
The individual committing First Dimensional sin needs to give a value equal to the value taken. Said another way, the individual needs to give a value without expecting anything in return from the person to whom the value is given. We have seen this is the definition of LOVE.
Love would cover First Dimensional sins. Now look at what Peter wrote:
"7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore of sound mind, and be sober unto prayer:
8 above all things being fervent in your love among yourselves; for love covereth a multitude of sins:
9 using hospitality one to another without murmuring:
10 according as each hath received a gift, ministering it among yourselves, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God;
11 if any man speaketh, speaking as it were oracles of God; is any man ministereth, ministering as of the strength which God supplieth: that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, whose is the glory and the dominion for ever and ever. Amen." I Peter 4:7-11
We are supposed to deal with First Dimensional sins here on earth. If we don't, they will be evened out during the First judgment...and we won't have the value to bring about God's Will on earth as it is done in Heaven.
These sins are not unto death...directly. However, these sins can lead to the Second Dimensional sins which are unto death.
Jesus' sacrificial death is the only payment for the sins that hinder our Salvation. We can ONLY be saved by Jesus' Blood.
Jesus' death covered Second Dimensional sins, NOT First Dimensional sins. Jesus' death did not cover the sins we do against people. If Jesus' death covered First Dimensional sins, then we could abuse each other, go to God for forgiveness, and everyone would gain value. The Bible would be ENCOURAGING us to abuse each other so we could all gain. The Bible would be contradictory.
We saw Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote that people who confess and repent to God for First Dimensional sins done to people are REALLY confessing and repenting to themselves. We saw this is the man-made doctrine of "One Way Justice".
First Dimensional sins are committed as an effect of stimulus from outside the individual.
We all have First Dimensional sins.
First Dimensional sins are committed against people and will be resolved through Justice according to the Reward Model.
First Dimensional sins ought to be resolved by people through confession and repentance, not God.
All unresolved First Dimensional sin will be resolved by God during the First judgment on Judgment Day.
We will look at Second Dimensional sins tomorrow...
