Matthew 2:13-14

This year we are covering the four Gospel Accounts together in chronological order.

In the previous post, we covered Matthew 2:10-12. Here was the conclusion:

The Wise Men rejoiced when they found Jesus. They brought him gifts and were warned by God in a dream to not return to Herod.

Matthew 2
"13 Now when they were departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I tell thee: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him."

(Matthew 2:1 implied the Wise Men came to Herod AFTER Jesus' birth. Matthew 2:12 implied the Wise Men left immediately after Jesus was seen by the Wise Men...but didn't state the location.)

(Now we see that Matthew 2:13 implied Joseph was warned to leave for Egypt immediately after the Wise Men saw Jesus. This would reinforce that Jesus' star was an angel and the angel stayed over Jesus until the Wise Men showed up...and then, perhaps, warned Joseph.)

"14 And he arose and took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt;"

(Joseph took Mary and Jesus to Egypt.)

CONCLUSION
Joseph took Mary and Jesus to Egypt because he was warned in a dream that Herod would seek to destroy Jesus.
